I'm using the "Zoomifyer EZ" tool which they offer "Totally Free!" for Mac and Windows (here).

Actually I'm a little bit disappointed that all this seems to be covered by a patent, because the idea seems simple enough - and something I'd like to try to improve upon.

Some patents are pretty stupid.
